Reasi, September 9, 2026: District Police Reasi has arrested all four accused allegedly involved in a violent assault case reported in Bhambla, with the last three accused being traced and apprehended from Jalandhar, Punjab, following a sustained police operation.
The breakthrough came after an intensive pursuit by Reasi Police, which involved raids at multiple locations, technical surveillance and human intelligence inputs to track down the suspects who had allegedly fled Jammu and Kashmir after the incident.
According to police, one of the four accused was arrested shortly after the assault, while the remaining three allegedly went outside the Union Territory in an attempt to evade arrest.
Assault reported at Bhambla
The incident took place on September 4, 2026, at around 4 pm, following which FIR No. 51/2026 was registered at Police Station Pouni under Sections 109, 332(c), 115(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the FIR, four individuals allegedly armed with lathis forcibly entered a shop located near a petrol pump at Bhambla.
The accused allegedly assaulted the shopkeeper, identified as Sachin Puri, leaving him seriously injured. After the alleged assault, the accused reportedly fled the location after threatening the victim with dire consequences.
The incident prompted immediate action from the local police, who began efforts to identify and apprehend all those allegedly involved.
First arrest made soon after incident
One of the accused, Kartik Uppal, a resident of Rah Salyote in Reasi district, was apprehended shortly after the alleged incident.
However, the remaining three accused had reportedly fled Jammu and Kashmir.
Police subsequently intensified their efforts to establish their whereabouts and bring them back within the ambit of the law.
Taking serious note of the case, SSP Reasi constituted a dedicated special team to trace the absconding accused.

According to police, the operation involved extensive raids, technical surveillance and on-ground human intelligence.
Multiple searches were conducted at suspected locations across Reasi district, other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, and outside the Union Territory.
Investigators continued tracking the movements of the three absconding suspects as they attempted to avoid arrest.
The sustained operation eventually led police to Jalandhar in Punjab, where all three remaining accused were traced and arrested.
Three accused arrested in Jalandhar
The three accused arrested from Punjab have been identified as:
- Shubham Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi.
- Mohit Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi.
- Anmol Sudan, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Rah Salyote, Tehsil Chowki Choura, Jammu.
With their arrests, police have now apprehended all four accused named in connection with the Bhambla assault case.
The police action also demonstrates the interstate nature of the investigation, with officers continuing the pursuit even after the suspects allegedly left Jammu and Kashmir.
