Lucknow, July 10: In a major push to strengthen technical education and skill development, the Uttar Pradesh Government has approved an investment of ₹3,634 crore to modernise 62 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state.

The initiative aims to transform the ITIs into modern skill development centres equipped with industry-relevant infrastructure and advanced training facilities, enhancing the employability of students and meeting the evolving demands of industry.

Modern Infrastructure and Advanced Equipment

Under the project, the selected ITIs will undergo comprehensive upgrades, including the installation of modern machinery, advanced laboratories, digital classrooms and state-of-the-art training equipment. The curriculum will also be revised to align with current industrial requirements and emerging technologies.

Industry-Oriented Skill Development

The government plans to strengthen collaboration between ITIs and private industries to ensure students receive practical, industry-focused training. Officials believe stronger industry partnerships will improve apprenticeship opportunities and increase campus placements.

Boost to Employment

The modernisation drive is expected to significantly improve the employability of skilled youth by equipping them with job-ready technical skills. Authorities say the initiative will help bridge the gap between industry demand and workforce availability while supporting Uttar Pradesh’s long-term skill development goals.

Economic Benefits

Officials expect the upgraded institutions to contribute to regional economic growth by creating a larger pool of skilled manpower for sectors such as manufacturing, electronics, construction, automotive, renewable energy and information technology.

The initiative is also expected to attract greater private-sector participation in vocational training and strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem.

Supporting India’s Skill Mission

The investment aligns with the broader objectives of the Skill India Mission and the vision of developing a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s manufacturing and economic growth.

With an investment of ₹3,634 crore, the project represents one of the largest efforts undertaken by any state to modernise vocational education infrastructure and prepare young people for future employment opportunities.
