Drass (Ladakh), July 26: On the occasion of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
Addressing the commemorative event in Drass, General Seth said he felt a renewed sense of energy and pride while remembering the sacrifices made by the Kargil heroes.
Tribute to Martyrs and Their Families
“I feel a renewed sense of energy and pride. On this occasion, I pay my humble tribute to our brave martyrs and offer my heartfelt respects to their families,” the Army Chief said.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of the soldiers and the strength shown by their families, describing them as a source of inspiration for the nation.
“Indian Army Warriors Are Unmatched”
General Dhiraj Seth expressed complete confidence in the capabilities of the Indian Army, stating that its soldiers are second to none.
“I simply want to say that the warriors of the Indian Army are superior to the soldiers of any other army in the world and cannot be matched,” he said.
Assures Nation of Army’s Commitment
The Army Chief assured the country that the Indian Army remains fully committed to the nation’s security and development.
“On this occasion, I want to assure the nation that the Indian Army is fully with you in the nation’s progress, and in the times to come, we will hoist the nation’s flag even higher,” General Seth said.
Kargil Vijay Diwas
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on 26 July to commemorate India’s victory in Operation Vijay in 1999, when the Indian Armed Forces successfully evicted Pakistani intruders from strategic heights in the Kargil sector after weeks of intense fighting.
The commemorative ceremony at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, senior military commanders, Kargil War veterans, Veer Naris, families of the martyrs and civil dignitaries, who paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation.
