Karachi: Three people, including Zubair Baloch, believed to be the brother of alleged Lyari gang leader Uzair Baloch, were injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire in Karachi’s Chakiwara area on Friday.

According to local media reports, the attack took place on Mirza Adam Khan Road in Lyari’s Chakiwara locality, where motorcycle-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire before fleeing the scene.

Zubair Baloch in Critical Condition

Reports said Zubair Baloch sustained critical injuries in the attack and was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi, where he is undergoing treatment.

Police said two bystanders were also injured in the firing.

The injured civilians have been identified as:

  • Abdul Rauf (43)
  • Abu Bakr (18)

Police Launch Investigation

The shooting triggered panic in the area, with a large number of people gathering outside Civil Hospital following the incident. Police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order and bring the situation under control.

South DIG Asad Raza said the injured man has been identified as Zubair Baloch, who is believed to be the brother of Lyari gang figure Uzair Baloch. He added that authorities are verifying his identity and investigating the motive behind the attack.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Chakiwara Police Station confirmed the identities of the two injured bystanders and said further investigations are underway.

Investigation Continues

Police have launched a search for the attackers and are examining possible motives behind the shooting. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, and authorities have not announced any arrests.

The incident comes amid Karachi’s continued efforts to curb organised crime and targeted violence, particularly in the Lyari area, which has witnessed gang-related conflicts in the past.
