Jammu: In a major counter-surveillance operation, the Indian Army has shot down a Pakistani surveillance drone in the Khour sector of Jammu after it was detected flying dangerously close to key Indian military installations.
According to Army sources, the drone was intercepted after it entered a sensitive area and was suspected of carrying out reconnaissance of Indian military positions.
Chinese-Made UAV Under Scanner
Preliminary investigations suggest that the recovered drone is a Chinese-made Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with advanced navigation and object-recognition technology.
Security agencies suspect the drone was being used to monitor Indian Army deployments and other sensitive locations near the Line of Control (LoC).
64 GB Memory Card Recovered
During the initial examination of the drone, security forces reportedly recovered a 64 GB Lexar memory card from the UAV.
According to Army sources, preliminary findings indicate that the memory card contains photographs and videos of Indian Army positions, deployment patterns, and other strategic locations in the border area.
The contents of the memory card are currently being examined to determine the extent of the intelligence gathered.
Forensic Analysis Underway
The recovered drone and its memory card have been sent for a detailed forensic examination.
Investigators are analysing the flight path, onboard systems, and stored data to establish the drone’s origin, mission profile, and possible operators.
Officials believe the UAV was intended to gather intelligence on Indian military activities and enhance surveillance capabilities across the border.
