New Delhi: A controversy has erupted after a Facebook video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi was temporarily removed, prompting scrutiny from a Parliamentary Standing Committee. According to reports, the committee has sought an explanation from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and has reportedly given him 72 hours to respond and apologise over the incident.

The reported move comes amid concerns raised by lawmakers over the handling of content on Meta-owned platforms and the accountability of global technology companies operating in India.

Meta Cites Technical Glitch

Meta has stated that the removal of the Prime Minister’s video was the result of a technical glitch and not a deliberate moderation decision. The company has indicated that the issue was identified and corrected after it came to notice.
