New Delhi, August 5: Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth on Tuesday inaugurated a 14-storey fully automated Multi-Level Car Parking Facility at the Defence Offices Complex, Africa Avenue, highlighting the Central Government’s commitment to developing modern urban infrastructure with world-class facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister said the project reflects the government’s vision of upgrading urban infrastructure through advanced technology, particularly in metropolitan cities where land is scarce.

Fully Automated Robotic Parking System

The newly inaugurated facility uses fully automatic robotic (dolly-type) parking technology, enabling maximum utilisation of available land while minimizing human intervention.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the parking system offers 60 per cent higher space efficiency compared to conventional parking facilities and has been built at a cost of ₹45 crore.

The facility is equipped with:

  • Fully automated robotic parking system
  • CCTV surveillance
  • Advanced fire safety systems
  • Zero vehicle emissions after entry into the lift lobby
  • Minimal human intervention during vehicle parking and retrieval

Focus on Smart Urban Infrastructure

Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Seth stressed that adopting advanced technology is essential to solving infrastructure challenges in densely populated urban areas.

He said projects like the automated parking facility not only improve convenience but also enhance workplace efficiency by replacing traditional systems with modern, technology-driven solutions.

Praise for CPWD

The Raksha Rajya Mantri commended the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.

He also appreciated the quality and architectural standards of other recently completed government infrastructure projects, including:

  • MP Flats
  • Kartavya Bhawans
  • Executive Enclave

Supporting Sustainable Development

Officials said the automated parking system is designed to reduce congestion, optimise land use and improve environmental sustainability by eliminating vehicle emissions inside the parking structure after vehicles enter the lift lobby.

The project is expected to significantly ease parking constraints at the Defence Offices Complex while serving as a model for future smart infrastructure initiatives in urban India.
