Samba, August 13: In a major coordinated anti-narcotics operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu & Kashmir Police and Border Security Force (BSF) seized 603 grams of suspected heroin in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district on August 13.

The operation was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs and was conducted in an area that has previously been associated with suspected narcotics-related activities.

Suspected Heroin and Motorcycle Seized

During the operation, the joint team recovered 603 grams of suspected heroin along with a motorcycle allegedly used in connection with the illicit activity.

One person, identified as a resident of Vijaypur in Samba, was apprehended at the spot.

Officials said the operation was conducted under high-risk and hostile circumstances, with the coordinated presence of NCB, J&K Police and BSF personnel enabling the teams to secure the area and bring the operation under control despite resistance encountered on the ground.

Another Major Seizure Within 24 Hours

The latest recovery comes shortly after another significant narcotics seizure by the NCB in Jammu.

On the previous day, the agency had reportedly recovered 438 grams of suspected heroin, highlighting the continuing intensity of anti-narcotics operations across the Jammu region.

Taken together, the operations underline the focus of enforcement agencies on disrupting the supply and distribution networks responsible for moving narcotics through the region.

Probe Into Wider Network Underway

The seized contraband has been secured and the apprehended accused is being questioned as investigators work to establish the complete network behind the suspected narcotics operation.

Authorities are expected to investigate both the forward and backward linkages, including the source of the suspected heroin, its intended destination and other individuals who may be connected to the network.

The coordinated action involving the NCB, J&K Police and BSF also reflects the agencies’ focus on strengthening inter-agency intelligence sharing and joint operations against narcotics trafficking.

The operation is being linked to the broader objective of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, with agencies continuing efforts to prevent the trafficking and circulation of illegal drugs in Jammu & Kashmir.

Further investigation is underway, and additional arrests or recoveries cannot be ruled out as investigators trace the wider network.
