Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir: Indian Army troops opened fire after detecting suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tarkundi forward area of Rajouri district late Friday night, triggering a brief exchange of small arms fire across the border.

According to official sources, the incident occurred at around 10:00 PM, when troops deployed along the forward posts noticed the movement of suspected terrorists close to the LoC.

In response, the Army opened small arms fire to prevent any possible infiltration attempt. The firing reportedly continued for nearly one-and-a-half hours.

Officials said there was retaliatory small arms fire from across the border during the incident. However, no casualties or injuries have been reported on the Indian side.

The Army is maintaining heightened surveillance in the area, and security forces remain on high alert to prevent any cross-border infiltration.

The incident comes amid increased vigilance along the LoC, with security agencies closely monitoring infiltration attempts during the summer months, when such activities generally witness an uptick.
