Doda, August 11: Security forces have launched a major search operation in the Ramtund area of Doda district after a video purportedly showing four suspected terrorists moving through the mountainous region surfaced, officials said.

According to preliminary inputs, the group is suspected to comprise three foreign terrorists and one local, although their identities and links have not yet been officially established.

The suspected movement was reportedly captured by local residents, who subsequently alerted the security forces. Following the information, Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF teams were mobilised to the area.

Massive Search Operation Underway

Security personnel are conducting searches across the forested areas, mountain tracks and ridgelines around Ramtund, which lies close to the Seoj Dhar belt of Udhampur.

Additional reinforcements were reportedly moved from Udhampur as the operation intensified.

Officials said there has been no contact with the suspected terrorists so far, and the search operation remains underway.

The Ramtund–Seoj Dhar belt is a remote and heavily forested mountainous region, making operations challenging and allowing security forces to maintain a wide search grid.

LeT Link Not Yet Officially Confirmed

While social media reports have suggested that the suspected group could be linked to Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), there is no official confirmation of the LeT affiliation at this stage.

Security agencies are continuing to establish the identities and possible affiliations of the four suspects.

The latest development has triggered heightened security in the region, with joint forces maintaining a close watch over possible routes and hideouts.

The search operation is currently underway.
