New Delhi, August 19: India will host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in New Delhi in February 2027, coinciding with the Swarnim Jayanti of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak.
The upcoming summit is expected to bring together maritime agencies from across the world to strengthen cooperation on issues related to maritime safety, security, information sharing and capacity building.
⚓ Preparations Underway
As part of preparations for the summit, the Bharatiya Tatrakshak hosted a Working Level Meeting (WLM) in hybrid mode.
The meeting focused on key institutional and organisational aspects of the forthcoming summit, including refinement of the CGGS Meeting Guidelines, strengthening of mechanisms for information sharing, and further development and management of the summit’s official website.

The participating maritime agencies also discussed ways to strengthen collective capabilities through greater exchange of:
- Professional expertise
- Operational experiences
- Best practices
- Maritime information
- Institutional knowledge
The discussions are aimed at creating stronger mechanisms for cooperation between coast guards and other maritime agencies, particularly in addressing challenges that extend beyond national maritime boundaries.

The Working Level Meeting also reviewed a proposed Activity Calendar for future collaborative engagements.
The calendar is intended to promote sustained interaction between participating agencies beyond the summit itself, helping build long-term professional relationships and strengthening cooperation in the maritime domain.

The 5th CGGS is expected to be an important manifestation of India’s MAHASAGAR vision — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
Through the summit, India aims to promote a collaborative, inclusive and forward-looking maritime order, with greater emphasis on collective responsibility for the safety and security of the global maritime commons.

Hosting the summit during the Swarnim Jayanti year of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak will add further significance to the event.

The February 2027 summit will provide an important platform to expand these partnerships and encourage greater coordination among maritime forces worldwide.
