New Delhi, June 29: In a significant step towards strengthening operational readiness and enhancing military sustainment capabilities, the Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps has signed a series of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading Indian defence and industrial companies. The initiative is aimed at improving engineering support, maintenance efficiency and lifecycle management of critical military platforms, ensuring higher equipment availability and enhanced combat preparedness across operational formations.

The agreements were signed with prominent industry leaders, including ideaForge Technology, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Ashok Leyland, and JCB India.

Strengthening Military Maintenance Ecosystem

The collaboration seeks to establish closer coordination between the Indian Army and industry partners to improve maintenance, repair and technical support for a wide range of military equipment and vehicles. Officials said timely maintenance and efficient logistics are critical for ensuring that operational platforms remain mission-ready, particularly in demanding field conditions.

The MoUs are expected to facilitate faster technical assistance, improved spare parts availability, enhanced servicing support and greater industry participation in sustaining military assets throughout their operational lifecycle.

Industry Partnership for Operational Excellence

Each participating company brings specialised expertise that will contribute to strengthening different aspects of military capability.

  • ideaForge Technology will support unmanned aerial systems (UAS), drone maintenance and technical assistance.
  • Tata Advanced Systems will contribute expertise in defence technologies, advanced engineering and military platforms.
  • Maruti Suzuki will assist in maintenance support for light utility vehicles used by the Army.
  • Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will strengthen support for heavy engineering equipment and specialised military vehicles.
  • Ashok Leyland, one of the Indian Army’s largest logistics vehicle suppliers, will enhance maintenance of transport fleets.
  • JCB India will provide engineering support for construction, earth-moving and infrastructure equipment deployed by the Army.

Improving Combat Readiness

Military officials emphasised that the initiative is focused on increasing equipment availability, reducing downtime and ensuring that operational platforms remain ready for deployment whenever required. Efficient maintenance systems play a vital role in sustaining military operations, particularly in challenging terrains and high-altitude areas where logistical support can often be demanding.

The collaboration is expected to significantly improve the operational availability of engineering equipment, transport vehicles, drones and other critical platforms used by the Rising Star Corps.

Boost to Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The initiative also aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India programmes by encouraging greater collaboration between the armed forces and indigenous defence manufacturers. By leveraging domestic industrial expertise, the Army aims to build a more resilient and self-reliant maintenance ecosystem capable of supporting modern military operations.

Officials believe such partnerships will not only strengthen operational efficiency but also accelerate innovation, technology transfer and capability development within India’s defence manufacturing sector.
