New Delhi, July 4: Pakistan’s intelligence establishment has reportedly initiated a major restructuring of the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), with Talha Saeed, son of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, expected to assume a leading operational role within the outfit, according to intelligence assessments.
The reported restructuring comes amid increased pressure on Pakistan-based terrorist organisations following Operation Sindoor and growing internal security challenges posed by insurgent groups operating within Pakistan.
Talha Saeed to Take Operational Charge
According to intelligence inputs, Talha Saeed is being positioned to take over the operational leadership of Lashkar-e-Taiba, while Hafiz Saeed, the outfit’s founder and a UN-designated global terrorist, is expected to continue as the group’s ideological guide and strategic mentor.
Security agencies believe the move is aimed at ensuring continuity of the organisation’s leadership while adapting its command structure to evolving operational requirements.
LeT Reportedly Divided into Three Regional Commands
Intelligence reports indicate that Lashkar-e-Taiba has been reorganised into three regional operational commands, each headed by a separate commander responsible for activities within their respective areas.

- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Command: Rana Muhammad Ashfaq

According to the intelligence assessment, the outfit’s India-focused operational network is expected to remain under the direct supervision of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s senior leadership, reflecting its continued strategic priority.
Officials believe the existing infrastructure for infiltration, recruitment, logistics, and planning directed against India is not expected to undergo significant changes under the new arrangement.

Security officials assess that the organisational changes follow the setbacks allegedly suffered by Pakistan-based terror groups during Operation Sindoor, which reportedly disrupted parts of their operational infrastructure.
