Jammu, September 7, 2026: Jammu Police have arrested six alleged members of the ‘Khauf Gang’ within 72 hours of an alleged firing incident in the Arnia area, in a major crackdown on organised criminal activity.
According to police, the arrests were made as part of an investigation into a death-threat and alleged firing case in Arnia. During the operation, security personnel also recovered three pistols, five sharp-edged weapons locally referred to as ‘tokas’, and six live rounds from the accused.
Police said the swift action followed an immediate investigation launched by Police Station Arnia after the incident was reported.
CCTV footage helped identify suspects
Following the incident, police teams began examining available evidence to identify those allegedly involved.
Investigators meticulously scrutinised CCTV footage from different locations in and around the area. The footage was also back-tracked along the route allegedly taken by the suspects from the scene of the incident, allowing investigators to follow their movements.
According to Jammu Police, clear images of the suspects were subsequently extracted from the CCTV recordings.

Six accused taken into custody
Acting on the intelligence inputs, police rounded up all six alleged members of the gang and took them into custody for questioning.

During the operation, police recovered three pistols along with five sharp-edged weapons and six live rounds.
